The work traces back the histories of the site taking evidence from different periods of time. Over 150 years, the site has been home to a church then demolished apart from the white tower which has remained a Glasgow landmark to this day. In the 1960s, it became a bank typifying the concrete architecture of the period and recently was converted as a residential building.
An eclectic body of evidence which compresses history (past and present) was developed through a focus on ephemeral elements: the construction of various buildings and the retracing of artifacts once housed on this site at various stages in time.
Many of the artifacts were found in new locations throughout Glasgow and were discovered after a great deal of research in public archives. These ranged from architectural plans from the early 20th century to stained glass some of which were made by the Pre-raphaelite painter, Edward Burne-Jones.
