‘Monument for disappearance’ took place in the Glasgow architectural practice of RMJM which has panoramic views over the city. Looking out on this evolving canvas of a city in a process of constant change, you are aware of the different layers of history and shifts of usage of certain areas.

The project evolved over several months rather than being a static exhibition and took form as a relational piece being shaped by stories from architects and technicians about particular sites in Glasgow which have changed, become redundant, been destroyed or eroded over time.

Over a few months, the project became a subjective exploration of disappearance of the layers of vernacular history within the city. The timeline is non-chronological and reflects different aspects of the city; drawings, archival documents, photographs and post-it notes created an eclectic system of reference.
